As the vice president of New Haven Terminal in New Haven, Connecticut, Michael "Mike" Vasaturo has over 25 years of experience in managing finances for the seaside port company. When not busy fostering banking relations or overseeing human resources and risk management, Michael Vasaturo enjoys watching his favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees. His favorite all-time player is former Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter. Drafted by the Yankees sixth overall in the 1992 MLB Amateur Draft, Derek Jeter made his big league debut in 1995, playing in only 15 games. He took over the shortstop position full time the following season, hitting 10 home runs and driving in 78 runs en route to winning the American League Rookie of the Year. Jeter's durability was one of his greatest assets during his 20-year career, as upon becoming the team’s full-time shortstop he played fewer than 119 games just once in his career -- and that was in 2013 when he was 39 years old. The New Jersey native was a cornerstone of the Yankees franchise, providing stability at shortstop for two decades while remaining an effective hitter. Jeter retired following the 2014 season with career totals of 260 home runs and a .310 average. Along the way, he was named to 14 All-Star Games and won five championships, five Gold Gloves, and five Silver Sluggers.
